Instructions for the authorsWe recommend that authors check a current issue of the "Journal of Applied Botany and Food Quality - Angewandte Botanik" for changes in the guidelines mentioned below. Contributions submitted by members of the Association for Applied Botany take precedence over others with respect to their scheduling of publication. Please send two copies of your manuscript typed on one side only and with 1 1/2 line spacing and provide also a disk copy of the manuscript. The name of the institute or of the research unit at which the investigation was conducted should be given at the head of the 1st page, followed by the title of the manuscript and the name(s) of the author(s). The complete postal address of the author(s) should be given at the end of the paper. A running title to be printed on top of each page should be proposed. To papers written in German an English summary with English translation of the title has to be added; this is to be placed immediately after the title on the 1st page of the manuscript. In papers written in English also the Summary is printed on the 1st page. The References should be arranged in alphabetical order of the authors' names (not numbered) according to the following scheme: (a) Papers from periodicals: GERDEMANN, J.W., 1964: The effect of mycorrhiza on the growth of maize. Mycologia 56, 342-349. (In the case of several authors: HAHN, E., HENNIGER, H., OERTEL. H., 1973: .....) (b) Books: N, N., 1980: .... . Publisher, Town. or: N, N., 1981: ... . In: N, N. (ed(s).), ... , pages. Publisher, Town. References to the literature in the text should be given in the following way: N and N (1983) or N et al. (1982), if the names are part of a sentence, and (N and N, 1983; N et al., 1982) if the citations follows a sentence. Scientific names of plants and animals are printed in italic, in the manuscript they should be denoted by a wavy line (not by a straight line) beneath the names. Individual members of the VAB or DGQ receive the pdf-file of their publication free of charge. For any changes of the original text in the proof the authors will be charged.
